Bob Childers

Bob Childers, also known as Robert E. Childers, has spent decades watching the decline of small-town life and the middle class in America. After stepping away from business and public roles, he took a closer look at how citizens are being represented and didn’t like what he saw. He realized the gap between elected officials and the people had grown too wide. With over 700,000 citizens per representative today, Childers knew it was time for new tools to help citizens be heard. That’s when he began working on MyVoice, a digital app designed to connect people and leaders through clear, visible polling.

Childers believes every citizen has a right to express what matters most to them and see whether their leaders listen. With MyVoice, the public can ask questions, vote on them, and see how representatives respond. The app doesn’t push opinions. It simply gathers the most asked questions and shows what people care about, clearly and without bias.

Before this work, Childers earned his Engineering Science degree from Johns Hopkins University, served as a submarine officer, and ran his own company for 45 years. He later volunteered on campaigns and for public causes, especially during the COVID years, but saw little real change. That’s why he wrote his book and launched MyVoice—to give citizens a way to speak up and be counted.

Living in Williamsburg, Virginia, near the college where Thomas Jefferson studied, Childers holds close Jefferson’s words: “Government derives its legitimacy from the consent of the governed.” Through MyVoice, that consent can finally be seen and measured.
